SUMMER IN THE ALPBACHTAL

Alpbach stands out with its originally rural character. Nowhere else in the Tyrol will you be able to find so many outstanding looked for farm buildings than here. They characterize the view of the place strongly and give the location the matchless charm. It is not for nothing that the village was voted “Austria’s most beautiful village” and also “Europe’s most beautiful flower village”.

Clear air, lush meadows and the breathtaking mountain landscape of the Kitzbüheler Alps. An ideal setting for active holidays: Hiking, mountain biking, paragliding … or simply relaxing and enjoying.

Alpbach is also called “The village of the thinkers” then since 1945 every August the “European Forum Alpbach” takes place. It attracts international personalities from the world of science, ecology, politics and culture. With the Congress Centre and its ingenious architecture the congress village sets directive accents.

HIKING IN THE ALPS

The location between the charming grass-covered mountains of the Kithbüheler Alps and the steep rugged Rofan mountains forms the rich in contrast hiking scenery of the Alpbachtal Seenland holiday region. The Rofan mountain with its summits like Sonnwendjoch & Sagzahn impresses with rich in species fauna & flora. The Zireiner lake is considered as the “Blue Eye of the Rofan” and is one of the most photographed mountain lakes in the Tyrol. The Alpbachtal with its rustic alpine huts is a hiking area for your eyes and palate.

BIKING IN THE TYROL

You cannot call the region as mountain bike insiders tip any more since the Transalp Challenge has already been held there on four occasions. Nevertheless you still cannot say that the region is overcrowded with bikers.

Europäisches Forum Alpbach

Annually from the middle of August to the beginning of September are 4,000 visitors from 64 nations, amongst them are 750 scholarship holders, guests in the Tyrolean mountain village Alpbach. The organization of the forum is overtaken by the non-profit association European Forum Alpbach in Vienna.
